Phi Theta Kappa’s Missouri Region recently contributed $5,456.66 to Every Dollar Makes a Difference and the Hites Challenge, surpassing the goal based on the 2,038 members the region inducted in 2007.
A portion of the Missouri Region’s contribution was donated by Ray and Kathy Kerlagon. A member of the Hites Foundation board, Ray Kerlagon is a faculty member at St. Louis Community College’s Wildwood Campus and served as charter advisor for the chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
“The Missouri Region advisors talked about the 1918 Anniversary club,” said Ann Parks, Missouri Regional Coordinator. “An advisor recommended that a donation of $1,918 be raised among the chapters, to be matched by the Region. When this was announced at the Regional Convention, Ray Kerlagon said he and his wife would match the chapters’ donation up to $1,918.”
“Missouri, where Phi Theta Kappa began, is very pleased to support the 1918 Anniversary Club and the Hites Scholarship Challenge,” Parks said. “We are excited to be part of this legacy and especially appreciate the Kerlagons for their generosity and support of the Missouri Region.” Parks noted that some $500 in pledges is expected to be added to the Missouri total.
